A total of 258 films were on the program, for which 72 awards were mode. Entries totaled olmost 400; many were eliminated in regional pre-screenings. Sound slidefilms entered were 70, programmed 54, awards 13. More than $10,000 was spent on entering the films and slidefilms; this year's increase in entry fee to $25.00 did not prevent publishers and sponsors from submitting their products for competitive judging. An estimated $6 million was the production cost of the films screened.
