Richmond, Virginia Philip Gessenoff, Century Drapery Company, came to Richmond to make the stage set installation for the Richmond Theatre Supply Company in Benjamin T. Pitts’ new East End. The new WMBG studios are being equipped with a very novel traveler, curtain to separate the audience room from the big broadcasting room, so that the presentations will be along modern showmanship lines. The audience room is being equipped with Ideal opera chairs. The complete arrangement is a creation of Elmer Brient, Richmond Theatre Supply Company, with the installation being made under his supervision. New York Crown Motion Picture Supply Company recently finished a complete renovating job — projectors, screen, chairs, frames, drapes, rubber mats, carpets, etc. — for the City, Highland Falls, New York; complete booth equipment in the Chopin, New York; a general reseating of Walter Reade’s Warren, Hudson, New York, his Strand, Southbridge, Massachusetts. The Amusement Supply Company recently did a modernization job on the Vernon, Long Island City, New York, installing Forrest rectifiers, Strong lamps, Simplex projectors. The ASC also redecorated, did drapery work at the State, Hempstead, New York. Duport’s Optimism Ray Duport, general sales manager, Forest Manufacturing Company, is at present on a protracted trip to the West Coast visiting his established dealers in each territory in the interests of Forest Rectifiers and Hurley Screens. Before leaving, Duport reported a 5 1 % increase in business volume on the sound screens and prospects of a banner year on both products. His cross-country tours are semi-annual affairs which have welded to this company a particularly loyal group of supply dealers. BETTER MANAGEMENT ( National Tieups: continued from page BM-20) Durbin Dolls Deanna Durbin dolls will be merchandised throughout the country soon under arrangements made by Universal’s exploitation department with the Ideal Novelty and Toy Company. Bernard Lipfert, noted sculptor, designed a model from which the ’teen age dolls are being made. Achieving what is said to be a perfect likeness, Lipfert studied more than 100 photographs of the BM-23 singing star, and detailed descriptions of her coloring. An exact reproduction of the Durbin coiffure, with precise shading and texture, and using human hair, is a feature of the dolls. They will be dressed in various costumes worn by the star in her recent pictures.
