Furthermore, although the Warner pressbook is the usual okay action job, the boys preferred to play around with the ads, with the result that while many parts of pressbook ads were used, there is not one exact copy on this page. The title is one of the big points here. The title was sold over the name of any star. Garfield made a big hit in his first show. He gets the star billing, and deservedly so. The boys made certain he was remembered by putting his face all over the ads. Sex, too, reared its not so ugly head in this case, with Ann Sheridan going as far as the Hays code would allow. The Dead End kids, who can’t be called kids much longer, were subordinated , although the smart thing to do is to show some group photo, if possible. It would be difficult to pick out the best ads here but our choice -would run to those from Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Los Angeles. Shorts were not ignored, with only the Rochester house doing what seems to be a waste of type, " musical , cartoon and news.” If shorts are worth mentioning, they are -worth listing by title. Most of the first runs have played this show, but for the subsequent and others to come this represents a good crop. The picture is doing a better than average business. The reasons are apparent.
