ANGELS WITH 9HH Latest link in the ever-expanding chain comprising the Warner theatres of the Washington Zone is the Beverly Theatre, in the City of Washington. To many readers, the plainness of the theatre front, the absence of all lettering, even theatre identification, on the marquee will be the house's most outstanding characteristic, but to Washingtonians it is commonplace, for District of Columbia regulations prohibit such displays as are generally considered part of theatre construction. In view of this, well indeed is the treatment given this aspect of the structure by Architect John Eberson. THE EXTERIOR, oi sturdy, massive brick construction, is meritorious in its design. Because of regulations in the District of Columbia barring the use of adjuncts of construction usually found in theatres, the marquee was, of necessity, designed to attract attention without the use of sign letters or other illuminative adornment. m wt 1939 PRESENTATION No. 10 The New BEVERLY THEATRE Washington, D.
