Indeed, here are examples of the better of the recent advertisements, revealing, for the most part, the nice attention to the proper and dignified capitalization of the star, the title of the book, and the author, although this last must be looked for rather than have it hop off the page and hit the reader in the eye. However, it is there. While there may be some personal doubts in the readers' minds on the " favorites " as indicated in the Washington advertisement , it is certain that the publicist of Loew's Capitol used an effective display. In fact , one might even go so far as to say that this is one of this theatre's best advertisements. Note also how the stage show had been held down and typographically in keeping with the picture lay-out. The advertisement of the Palace, Albany , New York , is another commendable lay-out, with the Academy Award statement stripped in the lay-out. The supplementary feature listing is quite in keep.ng with the rest of the lay-out. Here, for at least once, a New York advertising man cannot lay claim to a "best," for, while the source of the advertisement of the Capitol is apparent, it cannot be said to compare in finesse of lay-out or appeal to those of the Washington and Albany houses. All the advertisements , selected at random, are appealing, and all without question have helped to make the Mark Twain picturization the success it has been. March 22, 19)9
