Considering that this is a foreign picture, with no names for American consumption, and a theme that is not entirely new to American audiences, it is quite evident that the business being done by the show is out of the ordinary.
And the credit for the box office grosses can be given to the ads, such as represented above, and the pressbook, which supplied most of the ideas for what is seen on this page.
The unamimity of opinion of the exploiteers is concentrated on one factor, the figure of the girl, with dress off shoulder, and this is one of the cases where the boys are agreed that this will help sell tickets.
Most of the material shown here is from the pressbook, or a modification thereof. The show is sold throughout as a " shocking , daring,” etc., which explains the why of the grosses, with Corimte Luchaire boosted into the spotlight although she is unknown to American audiences.
We like the use of the "daring, dangerous ' Dead End' Girls” in the Philly ad, and, generally, we like the selling angles shown above. This picture must offer opportunities inasmuch as ordinarily many houses would not book an importation — so go to it.
