George Jessel headed a stable of 20th-Fox stars to appear at the world premiere of "When My Baby Smiles At Me" at the Fox. Seattle William H. Thedford, who has been serving as Oregon district manager for Evergreen Theatres for the past two years, was appointed assistant to Frank L. Newman, Sr. , president. Evergreen. Thedford is widely known as a western showman, and has been active in the industry for many years. He returned to National Theatres in 1945 as district manager, and the fol¬ lowing year became Oregon district manager for Evergreen Theatres. Last summer, he married Edna Elizabeth Purnell, whom he met in Dallas. They will now make their home in Seattle. Carl Miller, Universal-International salesman, Seattle district, was transferred to Los Angeles. With his wife and daughter, he left for the south by motor. Word from California was that Arthur O’Connell, Los Angeles city salesman for Universal-International, was re¬ cuperating at home from injuries sustained in a motor accident re¬ cently near Yuma, Ariz. O’Connell was a former Seattle branch manager for U-I .... George de Waide, present branch manager, with his salesmen Harry Blatt, Carl Miller, and Hap Frederick, returned from a regional sales meet in San Francisco. ...
