This unit is so light and easy to handle, the manu¬ facturers claim a child can use it. But still the cleaner has plenty of power for removing grit, dust, and dirt from machines, shelves, overhead pipes, walls, furniture and draperies in theatres. A blower nozzle is furnished as stand¬ ard while other attachments are available to make the cleaner suitable for vacuum¬ ing, spraying, and drying. This unit has a Vz h.p. continuous duty, universal type motor with permanently sealed ball bearings. The air velocity at nozzle is 18,000 feet per minute. The suction air volume {IVz inch hose) is 120 cubic feet per minute. The waterlift is 28 inches. The weight of the unit is just 8^/4 pounds, without the 20-foot cord. The manufacturers point out the 115volt unit is inexpensive and they say it sells for less than most smaller capacity cleaners. Junior Humidifier The Abbeon Supply Company recently announced that the new “Junior Walton” size humidifier is now in production after a series of intensive field tests. This new humidifier is designed to ful¬ fill the need for medium sized theatres. The new unit is said to service areas over 2,500 cubic feet and under 15,000 cubic feet. The Walton junior humidifier requires no steam, no pumps, no compressors, and no return lines. The unit is said to be completely noiseless in operation. The vapor is emitted looking like a fog, finer than cigarette smoke. The “Junior” humidifier has a vaporiz¬ ing capacity of slightly over one-half gallon per hour, this supply of water is fed from a copper tube which can be run to any water line. An automatic control can be supplied that will turn the unit off and on at any relative humidity. This unit is fabricated of heavy gauge copper or other non-ferrous materials. The motor is l/40th HP drawing 75 watts. The junior humidifier measures lOVz inches high, I3V2 inches in diameter and its ship¬ ping weight is 42 pounds. The versatile “Junior” can either hang from the ceiling or be placed on a table or shelf. Anti-Smudge Cone Ceiling smudge, a frequent occurrence in air conditioning systems, particularly where sooty, smoky, or dusty air is cir¬ culated or where there are rough tex¬ tured, dirt-catching ceilings, is said by the Conner Engineering Corporation to be effectively controlled. Through the addi¬ tion of an anti-smudge cone to the Kno Draft air diffuser the manufacturers claim positive measures of alleviating smudges. Fitting snugly between the outer rim of the diffuser and the ceiling the anti¬ smudge cone provides the precise minimum separation of the air stream from the ceil¬ ing and, at the same time, complements the appearance of the diffuser. The diffusers with the cones require less space between the face of the duct and the finished ceiling. Also, the use of the cones provides greater latitude between the ceiling opening and the outside rim of the diffuser. This means less care need be taken in cutting ceiling openings, an ad¬ vantage of particular appeal to the contractor. January 12, 1949 PHYSICAL THEATRE DEPARTMENT of THE EXHIBITOR PT-13
