Emergency Lighting Unit
An emergency lighting unit that plugs into any standard outlet has been an¬ nounced by U-C Lite Manufacturing Company. If and when regular lighting current fails or is interrupted, this “Big Beam” automatically switches on to pro¬ vide flood lighting over a large area.
The makers further state that “Big Beam” meets the requirements for auto¬ matic emergency lighting in theatres, amusement buildings, and other public places. Such emergency lighting is pre¬ ventative insurance against confusion, panic, growing out of any power or light failure.
The manufacturers point out besides their products’ ease of installation that there are other sellable features. An eight foot rubber-covered cord and plug that fits any 110-120-volt standard lighting outlet so that, the instant the power goes off, the “Big Beam” switches on. The in¬ dependent floodlight heads are five inches in diameter and are chromium plated. Brass, friction-type swivel joints hold the adjustable heads in any horizontal or ver¬ tical position.
This unit operates on one nine-volt, standard dry cell. The soft green hammerloid container is made of 20-gauge steel and weighs 18 pounds complete.
Drive-In Sound System
Camden, N. J. — A new line of drive-in theatre sound systems, the “High Power” and the “Super Power” series, was an¬ nounced by the theatre equipment section, RCA Engineering Products Department, recently.
The sales manager of the RCA theatre equipment section asserts that this is the first time any manufacturer has offered drive-in systems covering the extensive output range of 70 to 1000-watts. A unique feature of both the “High Power” and “Super Power” series is that they are planned in such a way to make it possible to start out with a small power output, and at a later date build up to a greater power output by adding additional amplifiers.

TELL-TALE LIGHT VALUABLE AFTER BOXOFFICE CLOSES
NEW LONDON, O. — J. D. Guthrie, owner, Karolyn, has a neon light over the screen. After the boxoffice closes, and people come in, the light flashes, telling him that somebody has entered the theatre. So far he has netted $25 in additional admissions.
The patented Tell-Tale works in this manner. As the outside handle is pulled to open the door, the handle moves out a fraction of an inch and the pin point switch goes on, turning on the neon light which is set over the screen. This light gives off a faint glow, not distracting to the audience but alerting the staff. They know someone has entered the vestibule from the outside, not from the restrooms, popcorn counter, etc.
When the boxoffice is open, the light is turned off by a double pole switch which is included in the circuit.
