Hall's production "Chains of Evidence," under the direction of Dallas M. Fitzgerald, has been signed by DeitrichBeck, Inc. for an important role in Doris Kenyon's next starring vehicle, "The Harvest Moon," a screen version of the play by Augustus Thomas. Miss Shotwell will work under the direction of J. Searle Dawley, former director of Marguerite Clark. Work has started at the Leah Baird Studio, Fort Lee. Miss Shotwell is well known on the speaking stage and will be remembered for her work in "The First Gentleman of Europe," Frances Hodgson Burnett"play which ran for several seasons at the old Lyceum Theatre with James K. Hackett starred; as a member of Augustine Daly's company presenting Shakesperian repertoire and as the creator of the part of Antoinette in the "Prisoner of Zenda" in which E. H. Sothern had the leading role. Mable Normand's Next Film Titled 4 'Maggie" Mabel Xormand will make her next picture in New York under the direction of Victor L. Schertzinger, who directed "Jinx," "Pinto" and other of her productions. The vehicle selected for Miss Norniand, according to the announcement received from the Goldwyn offices, is "Maggie," a stage play by Edward Peple, author of "A Pair of Sixes." Director Schertzinger is now on his way from Culver City to New York, accompanied by Assistant Director Joe Delfino, Cameraman George Webber and Cullen Landis and Walter Hiers, who are cast for important roles in the production. Lowe in Talmadge Film Edmond Lowe, who plays the part of the Chinese Prince, Tom Lee, opposite Lenore Ulric, in David Belasco's production, "The Son-Daughter," at the Belasco Theatre, has been engaged as Norma Talmadge's leading man for "The Woman Gives," her second First National picture, on which work was started last Wednesday. Roy Neil is directing. Insures Star's Life Ernest Truex, who stars in ParamountTruex comedies released by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, has been insured for $200,000 by Amedee J. Van Beuren, president of the AyVeeBee Corporation. Branch Manager Resigns DES MOINES, IA.— Harry L. Orear. branch manager for Pathe, has tendered his resignation, to become effective December 31. Mr. Orear will return to Cincinnati. Title Changed The title of the Charles Ray production, which has been referred to until now as "Watch Out, William," has been changed to "A Village Sleuth." 161
