Here is what he writes: " 'Tol'able David' went over like a house on fire and I can't recall at any time during my years in the business, that I have heard more favorable comments and the word 'Great' from my patrons as they left the theatre." And the Big New York Strand was crowded with vast throngs all last week. — They sat in breathless suspense, literally gripping the nana rails, held by the force of the powerful, smashing scenes. And few eyes were dry.
