THE SERVICE PAPER 1665 Frohman Manager on Way Back to New York Goldburg Expects to Show Two New Productions to Trade Soon Jesse J. Goldburg, general manager of the Frohman Amusement Corporation, will arrive in New York on Monday from the West Coast Studio, after an absence of four weeks. Mr. Goldburg is bringing with him "South of Santa Fe" and "The She Wolf," the first Western dramas starring Texas Guinan, also the first Mack Swain comedy. These will be shown to the trade at .a private showing soon. William L, Sherrill, president of the company, is still at Los Angeles, where he is overseeing production on the Westerns and Poppy Comedies. He expects to return to his New York office shortly. Mr. Goldburg's itinerary since leaving for the coast has included stops at Chicago, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Kansas City on his way out. He remained in Los Angeles two weeks, and on the return trip stopped at San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago and Cleveland. Mr, Goldburg's stops were in connection with the six-reel production "Once to Every Man," which has now been disposed of in all the territory covered on this trip. Standard of Cleveland Acquires Many Features Standard Film Service of Cleveland has enlarged its home office to provide space in which to handle many new productions the territorial rights of which were acquired by President Harry Charnas during his recent visit to New York. Among them is "The Scarlet Trail," health propaganda film sponsored by the American Defense Society. Another is "The End of the Road," supported by the Red Cross, Y. M. C. A. and U. S. Public Health Service. These features have been booked for the Hartman, Columbus ; Park, Youngstown; Grand Opera House, Canton and Colonial, Akron, among others. Among the shorter subjects purchased by Mr. Charnas were: Tom Mix subjects, which will be released once a week; two-reel Jester Comedies, with Twede Dan, to be released every other week ; two-reel Gail Henry comedies, for release every other week, and the 'two-reel Christy .comedies, which will be released shortly. W. A. Brady Sells Illinois Rights for "Stolen Orders" William A. Brady announces the sale of his big picture "Stolen Orders" for Illinois to Jones, Linick and Schaefer. The acquisition of "Stolen Orders" for Illinois by this firm is further indicative of the fact that the Brady picture is today one of the strongest, state right propositions on the market. Recent advices from widely separated parts of 'the country disclose the fact that "Stolen Orders" continues to roll up remarkable box office records. Not only in this country, but also in foreign territories, particularly England and South America, the Brady picture is proving a strong attraction. For Six Features Made by Harry Raver Sidney Garrett, president of J. Frank Brockliss, Inc., firm exporters, has elcded a contract for world's rights, except the United States and Canada, for the entire series of six Augustus Thomas features photoplays, the first of which, "As a Man Thinks," is soon to be released by Producer Harry Raver, of Four Star Pictures, under the new Raver plan of production, involving co-opera live equality between producer, author, star and director. This series will be distributed throughout America by the W. W. Hodkinson Corporation through the Pathc system of offices. "As a Man Thinks" will be the first production to go out under the new Hodkinson sales policy of unrestricted open booking. In discussing this contract Mr. Garrett declared his conviction that a photoplay with a great dramatist's name attached to it is superior to that which carries the name of a star only in that it attracts new audiences to the cinema. Big Boost in Bookings on "The Carter Case" More Than 90 Per Cent of New York's Theatres are Showing This Serial State Rights Buyers Want "Virtuous Men" Sawyer and Lubin Receive Many Offers for Their New Production Following various offers from leading distributors desirous of buying "Virtuous Men," Messrs. Sawyer and Lubin have decided that this attraction will receive the widest exploitaiiou through the medium of territorial sale.
