Radio Promotion and Personal Appearances Help Launch °‘Elvis”’ in Montreal! The proud manager of the Palace 6 Cinema in Montreal, Kostas Kouzounas, left, welcomes singer-dancer Sharon Devall (Marilyn Monroe look-alike), and David Scott, star of THIS IS ELVIS, at a special screening for press and public. Pat Cioffi, right, is the assistant manager of the Palace 6. Top 40 radio station CKGM-98 collaborated with Warner Bros. and Cinémas Unis in launching the semidocumentary film THIS IS ELVIS when it opened at the new Palace 6 Cinéma in Montréal. The station was given the halfhour taped interview with Presley and some of the people who worked with him, which they aired a couple of times on the opening week-end to great public response. CKGM had phone-ins and gave away a limited number of theatre passes along with announcers’ adlib comments about the King of rock ‘n’ roll. Adding to the on-air promotion was the personal appearance of Toronto-born Montrealer David Scott, who appears in the film as Presley in his adolescent years and singer-dancer, Sharon Devall, who accompanied Scott to the screening. 12 September/October, 1981 Sharon has an_ uncanny resemblance to the late Marilyn Monroe, having the same figure (36-24-36), and facial structure as the late actress. She is scheduled for an appearance in Las Vegas some time in October. Nineteen year old David Scott won first prize ($5,000.00), and a trip to Memphis to visit Graceland in an Elvis look-alike contest held in Montreal in 1978. His strong resemblance to Presley and his singing ability eventually earned him a screen test which won him the coveted movie role. Photographers and reporters from 11 French and English newspapers gathered in the lobby of the Palace 6 Cinéma taking pictures and interviewing the young entertainers who were kept busy shaking hands and obliging customers with autographs. ® What do You Want From me Blood?
