This suspense/terror movie in the Hitchcock vein begins with the kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy, held hostage in his parents’ London townhouse. Police surround the house in a classic stand-off. But inside, a deadly black mamba snake has escaped from its cage... travelling from room to room in the ventilation ducts, adding the element of terror to the suspense-charged story.
The cast is headed by Sterling Hayden, Sarah Miles, Oliver Reed, Klaus Kinski, Nicol Williamson and Susan George. Directed by Piers Haggard and produced by Martin Bregman whose impressive credentials include ‘‘Serpico’’, Dog Day Afternoon’’ and ‘‘The Four Seasons’’.
