THEY’RE OFF.... AND SELLING The Concessions and Merchandising Department has been very active in developing promotional campaigns at the theatre level. Since January 1990 there have been four incentive promotions surrounding such products as Rolo, Glossettes, Mars with Almonds and Gummi Bears. In addition, four regional incentive programs were run with Coca Cola. These were the first of the regional BOZ/Patron battles and more are planned for other areas of the country during the rest of 1990. Keith Harding, vice-president of Concessions and Merchandising, is excited about the participation of the theatres and the cooperation of our suppliers in these new programs. "| find it gratifying that our suppliers are beginning to understand that they are more than order-takers. They must support our business by marketing their products in the theatres and by coming to the table with promotional ideas and incentive programs which motivate our staff and our customers," said Keith. "In May we ran a Glossettes promotion in which our customers had a chance to win a trip for two to Cannes; Nestle and Effem Foods has offered cash prizes as staff incentives which have been administered by district management; and this summer should prove very hot with customers "Flipping and Winning" for a Ford Escort GT, a trip to Hollywood or numerous prizes of soft drinks and popcorn. I hope the theatres enjoy the opportunity of putting their sales expertise into effect." We will bring you the results of all concessions promotions and sneak previews of promotions-in-progress.
