The Vancouver International Film Festival operates the largest film festival on the west coast of North America. Current intemational selections are complemented by series devoted to the cinemas of East Asia, Canada, Nonfiction Features and the Screenwriter’s Art. Attendance for the 1998 event of 300 films over two weeks reached 130,000. Each year sees important industry-related activities including the Annual Trade Forum as well as a substantial representation of producers, directors, screenwriters, stars, distributors, buyers, festival directors and foreign press.
