Aims and Scope
The Banff Television Festival, marking its 21st Anniversary in 2000, is an annual celebration of program excellence, a source of vision, an opportunity for collaboration, and a showcase for innovation. The Festival combines an intemational program competition with a conference that is attended by industry professionals from around the world. It is the prime intemational event for program makers, and takes place every June in the heart of the majestic Canadian Rockies.

The first Canadian Student Film Festival was organized in 1969 and has been held each year since then. This Festival promotes an awareness of the level achieved by future generations of filmmakers and videomakers. This is a competitive festival with winners receiving cash prizes.
Many films presented at the Festival have gone on to win prizes in international festivals. Many filmakers, such as Jean-Claude Lauzon, Arto Paragamian, Christian Duguay, Bachar Chbib, Sturla Gunnarson, Veronika Soul, George Mihalka, Peter Mettler, were first discovered at the Canadian Student Film Festival.
