Founded by Norman Jewison in 1988, the Canadian Film Centre is a national, advanced training institution with a mandate to promote and advance the artistic, technical and business skills of Canada’s film, television and new media production community.

The Canadian Film Institute / Institut canadien | du film was founded in 1935 to encourage and promote the study, appreciation and use of motion pictures and TV in Canada. The CFI presents screenings in the National Capital Region and organizes film programs which tour nationally. The Canadian Film Institute is also involved in a variety of professional development programs for the film and TV industry. The Canadian Film Institute organizes the Ottawa Intemational Animation Festival every two years. The next will be held in September 2000.

Since 1990, Cinematheque Ontario has presented thousands of films highlighting classic and contemporary, Canadian and intemational cinema. Screenings are held throughout the year at the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Jackman Hall with additional screenings at the Gallery's Henry White Kinnear Education Theatre. The screening program presents a diverse selection of films within various contexts: directors’ retrospectives, national and regional cinema spotlights, thematic series and special events. Directeur administratif: Claude Thibeault Founded in 1963, the Cinémathéque’s main activity is conservation. Its collection includes over 32,000 film titles, 28,000 posters, 600,000 Stills, and 2,000 apparatus. Its médiathéque houses the largest collection of books and magazines on film and television in Canada. The Cinémathéque downtown building houses two screening rooms (film & video) that present year-round programs open to the public, and two exhibition rooms devoted to artifacts related to the history of film and television.

The Conservatory was founded in January 1968 by Serge Losique. Its fundamental aims are to propagate the cinematographic art in all its forms — festivals, retrospectives, etc. — while continuing to improve its film archives. In 1988 the Conservatoire merged with the Canadian Film Institute to form Cinémathéque Canada.

Executive Producer: Maruska Stankova DAWC is a not-for-profit corporation, training Canadian professionals in film & TV.
The Spring and Fall workshops last three months and bring together directors, actors, associate producer-trainees and writers, for 160 hours of instruction and collaboration which produces eight short original dramas, every year since 1982.
