40% New Brunswick Film Labour Tax Credit To encourage the hiring of New Brunswick residents, New Brunswick Film manager a refundable labour-based film tax credit that provides a rebate to a maximum of 40% of eligible salaries paid to New Brunswick residents. Eligible wages cannot exceed 50% of the total costs of production. The value of this 40% Labour Tax Credit may be included as part of the calculation of a production company's equity in a production. When New Brunswick Film determines that it is in the best interest of the Province, New Brunswick Film may waive the requirement that the NB Film Labour Tax Credit apply only to wages of New Brunswick residents. This may occur when in the opinion of the New Brunswick Film, there is no qualified NB worker available to perform the specific function; and the out-of-province worker fulfilling this

function is mentoring a New Brunswick resident. In addition, when, in the opinion of New Brunswick Film the overall economic benefits to the Province are such that a waiver is warranted. In order to receive a waiver, the producer must demonstrate that each individual waived is mentoring a New Brunswick worker and each trainee has a training plan and evaluation process in place that is approved by New Brunswick Film. The determination of the applicability of the tax credit to a specific project is fully at the discretion of the NB Film.
Development Loans
New Brunswick Film provides support to qualified new Brunswick producers to assist with the development phase of an eligible New Brunswick based film production or a co-production with a New Brunswick production company. The Development Loan can include development of a dramatic treatment and research through to final draft or outline for film or television including preproduction and budget preparation.
Equity Investment
New Brunswick Film can take an equity position in film and television productions that are produced or co-produced by New Brunswick producers.
