The Program
Film & Television Production is a three-year diploma program which combines the creative and the technical with emphasis on hands-on training and interdisciplinary practical projects. Students develop and produce a wide range of productions on both film and video: from documentary to experimental to dramatic.
Curriculum & Faculty
Extensive training in the first two years of the program includes lighting, cinematography, sound, production management, postproduction, script writing, directing, videography, computer multimedia and TV production. There is also an Independent Production course which supports individual student projects in addition to the interdisciplinary crew projects.
Students in the third year of the program specialize in the disciplines of their choice and continue to train for their entry into the industry. Of note are Film / TV Business Practices and Field Placement courses which prepare students to work as freelancers. Third-year students also complete major projects (dramatic, corporate and commercial) which add greatly to their portfolios. These student projects have won recognition and awards at various festivals in Canada and the United States.
The key to the success of the Humber College Film & TV Production Program is the faculty. These are dedicated instructors, fulland part-time, who continue to work in the industry. They bring relevant experience, vitality and a sense of immediacy to the classroom.
FILM CANADA YEARBOOK ¢ 2002
