Eric Robinson Presiding Member: Henry Huber Class A— Commercial Public Exhibition Classification The fees payable for classifying a film for the purposes of commercial public exhibition are as follows: (a) for a film of 35mm or over, per reel $33.00 (b) for a film not over 16mm, per reel $5.00 (c) for each trailer film of 35mm or over $50.00 (d) for a videotape or videodisc per minute or any part thereof $2.00 (e) for each videotape or videodisc trailer for each five minutes or less $50.00; for a film, videotape or videodisc of a size or type other than the above, the nearest appropriate rate. General Licence A person distributing film for commercial public exhibition may obtain a Class A General Licence upon payment in advance of a fee, as follows: (a) for film 35mm or over, per annum $450.00 (b) for film not over 16mm, per annum $35.00 (c) for film of a size other than one of the foregoing sizes, the nearest appropriate rate. (d) for videotape or videodisc of any size, per annum $450.00 One-Event Licence A person distributing film for a one-event, one-film commercial public exhibition may obtain a Class A One-Event Licence upon payment in advance of a fee, as follows: (a) for film 35mm or over per program of 16 reels $35.00 (b) for film not over 16mm, per program of 16 reels or under $35.00 (c) for film of a size other than one of the foregoing sizes, the nearest appropriate rate. (d) for videotape or videodisc of any size, per program $35.00 Class B — Non-Commercial Public Exhibition Classification The fees payable for classifying a film for the purposes of non-commercial public exhibition are as follows: (a) for a film, videotape or videodisc of any size or type submitted by a person holding a Class A licence No fee (b) for a film, videotape or videodisc of any size or type submitted by a person holding a Class Blicence $2.50 General Licence FILM CANADA YEARBOOK ¢ 2003 A person distributing film for non commercial public exhibition may obtain a Class B General Licence upon payment in advance of a fee, as follows: (a) for a film 35mm or over, per annum $35.00 (b) for film not over 16mm, per annum $35.00 (c) for film of a size other than one of the foregoing sizes, the nearest appropriate rate (d) for videotape or videodisc of any size, per annum $35.00 One-Event Licence A person distributing film for a one-event, one-film non-commercial public exhibition may obtain a Class B One-Event Licence upon payment in advance of a fee, as follows: (a) for film 35mm or over, per program of 16 reels $15.00 (b) for film not over 16mm, per program of 16 reels or under $15.00 (c) for film of a size other than one of the fore-going sizes, the nearest appropriate rate (d) for videotape or videodisc of any size, per program $15.00 Class C 18+ Home Use Film or videotape classified as 18+ is $2.00 per minute or portion of a minute. A video distributor may obtain a Class C Licence upon payment in advance of a fee, per annum, as follows: (a) for distributing film other than film classified as 18+ $250.00 (b) for distributing film classified as 18+ $450.00 Class D Video Retailer Licence A video retailer may obtain a Class D Video Licence for each location where the video retailer carries on business, upon payment in advance of a fee, per annum, per location, of $95.00. Where the fee referred to in subsection (1) is paid before April 1, for a one-year term beginning April 1, a reduction of $20.00 per annum shall be allowed. General Fees (1) Notice of appeal of a classification $500.00 (2) Notice of appeal of an inspector’s decision $250.00 (3) Notice for review of an order or decision of the board $250.00 (4) For a copy of a record of classification,or for examining a record of classification $5.00 (5) For a copy of any order or rule made by the board $15.00 Please check specific questions with the Film Classification office. Amusement Tax There is no provincial sales tax, but a tax may be imposed at the discretion of municipalities. FILIVI CLASSIFICATION eee ee CU ENO SO City of Winnipeg: Extract from By-law No. 3107/81: —“...every person attending a place of amusement shall, upon his every attendance thereat whether he is admitted for cash, by regular ticket, season or other periodic ticket, pass, complimentary ticket or voluntary contribution or without the payment of any fee, charge or contribution, pay to the City for the raising of a revenue of the City, a tax in accordance with Schedule “A” Sec. 3(1). (1) On an admission of Five Dollars ($5) or more, the tax shall be ten per cent (10%) of the admission price, but, if in making the computation of the tax the result includes a fraction, the tax shall be the whole number that is nearest to oneeleventh of the total charge made to include the admission price and the tax. (2) On passes, complimentary, season or periodic tickets, or where the person is admitted without payment of the usual or any price of admission, the tax shall be based on the admission price payable at the amusement for that accommodation.
