Project Officer: Antoinette Basque-Doron New Brunswick Film supports and promotes the vibrant film and television industry in the Province of New Brunswick. Call New Brunswick Film to discuss opportunities that we can provide for your productions (television series, feature films, MOWs, documentaries, animation, or children’s series). To support the film and television industry in New Brunswick we offer: 40% New Brunswick Film Labour Tax Credit.
To encourage the hiring of New Brunswick residents, New Brunswick Film manages a refundable labour-based film tax credit that provides a rebate to a maximum of 40% of eligible salaries paid to New Brunswick residents. Eligible wages cannot exceed 50% of the total costs of production. The value of this Labour Tax Credit may be included as part of the calculation of a production company’s equity in a production. When New Brunswick Film determines that it is in the best interest of the Province, New Brunswick Film may waive the requirement that the NB Film Labour Tax Credit apply only to wages of New Brunswick residents. This may occur when in the opinion of New Brunswick Film, there is no qualified NB worker available to

al
perform the specific function, and the out-ofprovince worker fulfilling this function is mentoring a New Brunswick resident; in addition, when, in the opinion of New Brunswick Film the overall economic benefits to the Province are such that a waiver is warranted. In order to receive a waiver, the producer must demonstrate that each individual waived is mentoring a New Brunswick worker and each trainee has a training plan and evaluation process in place that is approved by New Brunswick Film. The determination of the applicability of the tax credit to a specific project is fully at the discretion of NB Film.
Development Loans
New Brunswick Film provides support to qualified New Brunswick producers to assist with the development phase of an eligible New Brunswick-based film production or a co-production with a New Brunswick production company. The Development Loan can include development of a dramatic treatment and research through to final draft or outline for film or television including preproduction and budget preparation.
Equity Investment
New Brunswick Film can take an equity position in film and television productions that are produced or co-produced by New Brunswick producers.
Location Services
We read your scripts, provide digital photographs, do initial location site searches, and if you come and visit New Brunswick we offer you a personalized location scouting tour and no filming permit fees, and we can match you with a New Brunswick producer who can be a co-producer or a local service provider.
Film Festivals
