After months of intensive training, he gains a spot in Chicago's famed Chez Paree. only to learn that she was instrumental in the deal. Fired with the knowledge that Hutton will complete the engagement if he fails. Meeker goes on to become a solid smash. It is only when he learns that she will quit the stage to become a housewife if he registers that he realizes her great love for him and brings her onstage as "Mrs. Bennv Fields".
