S. district court for $43,500 against major companies and C. C. Dunsmore and Mrs. Dunsmore, M. C. Roskopf and Sam Horwitz, Marshalltown exhibitors, charging a combination in restraint of trade. Escape Special Taxes Although 44 legislatures have held sessions in the current calendar year, no special taxes have been imposed on the motion picture industry, although theaters have been indirectly affected by general sales taxes in a few in stances. In addition to California, where more than 100 bills are pending there are still 59 bills in the assemblies. Legislatures still in session are Mass., Conn., Pa., Minn., III., Colo.. Fla.. Box-office results are demonstrate^ ing that the number of adults who ca^f2 be influenced by juveniles' film recommendations is too small to bother about, and there appears to be more value in the opposite of the rule, according to Brown.
