Horse in Four Series West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — Black King, the educated Arabian horse discovered by Mitchell Leichter, head of Beaumont Pictures, has been set for four series of pictures. They include six Black Kings, eight Conway Tearle films, six with Jack Hoxie and six with Lane Chandler. The pictures will be sold on the independent market. The horse, solid black in color, has been insured for $50,000, according to Leichter. Casey's Pathe Reply Today Pat Casey's reply to Pathe Exchange's answering affidavit to his petition for appointment of a receiver for Pathe will not be filed until today, it was said Saturday by Martin King, counsel for Casey. Movies and Oil Lead California Industries West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DA11 Hollywood — Products of the motion picture and petroleum industries represent over 35 per cent of the total value of output in California, according to a sumr :t v o tne Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles. In a checkup of employment, the bank found that the film industry had 12 per cent more workers in 1933 than in 1929, whereas in other lines employment was lower by as much as 61 per cent. Checkers Win on Appeal Three Ross Federal Service checkers, recently convicted of trespass by a jury in the Superior Court, Boston, were acquitted on appeal last week. The defendants were arrested when they resisted efforts of two Revere, Mass., theaters to prevent them from checking the houses although they presented proper credentials from the distributors. Named Hungarian Film Distribs Eugene Lang and Bela Black, directors of Danubia Pictures Corp., have been informed by the Hui, garian Bureau of motion pictures, a branch of the ministry of Education, that their company has been selected as the official distributors of all Hungarian-made motion pictures in the U. S., Canada and the South Americas. Mr. Lang expects to present Hungarian pictures in a large Broadway house next season.
