GOOD ACTION ADVENTURE THRILLER OF OUTDOORS WITH PLEASING Y£'<NG LOVE INTEREST. ^
This is a cross between a western action film and a romance of young love, as Noah Beery, Jr., plays the part of a young man encountering civilization for the first time in his mountain wilderness, and meeting his first love. His father has been forced to flee to the mountains after being falsely accused of murder. Young Beery grows up in the mountain country as wild as the mustangs in the nearby valley. The wild horse sequence later offers thrills and plenty of action. Then there is the menace, Fred Kohler, Sr., and the lad goes into a battle with him as the heavy tries to steal a herd of his horses. Later he saves the girl, Frances Robinson, from a wild horse stampede, and their friendship ripens into love as the boy experiences his first contact with feminine charms. There is a sincere note running throughout the young actor's role and his contact with the outer world after a lonely childhood in the wilds has been handled very humanly. The climax has the heavy and his gang trying to rustle young Beery's horses, and the sheriff's posse and the hero going into a gun battle that carries plenty of kick. With the young hero featured throughout, this action film will have more than the usual appeal to the juveniles over the average western.
