20th-Fox Radio Dept. Expanded by Hal Home
Expansion of the 20th-Fox radio department to cover all phases of air exploitation was announced on Friday by Hal Home, the company's ad-publicity chief. The duties of the department will be shared by Robert Montgomery and Ted Lloyd, who have been entrusted with the expansion plans.
Montgomery will be in charge of all radio activity designed for exhibitor service and of music exploitation. Myra Miller will assist him. Lloyd will take care.of national radio programs and handle commercial tie-ups in the . East. ... He was formerly, a member, of -the editorial staff of Radio Daily. • ',.■.
"Dakar" to be Republic's Next de Luxe Production
Republic's next de luxe production, designed to surpass "Flying Tigers," will be "Dakar," it was announced Friday following conclusion of home office conferences with M. J. Siegel, president of Republic Productions. John Wayne already has been set for one of the leading roles, while John Carroll and Anna Lee who appeared with Wayne in "Flying Tigers," are being sought for other lead parts.
Siegel returns to Hollywood today.

Pittsburgh V. C. Will Open Stage Door Canteen
Pittsburgh — Under the sponsorship of the local Variety Club, a Stage Door Canteen will be opened here in 30 days. The club will finance and operate. Committee is headed by John H. Harris and M. A. Silver as co-chairmen. Estimated this city has 900 service men down town daily.

Surprise Blackout for Penn. Before Month's End

Harrisburg, Pa. — Pennsylvania will have a state-wide surprise blackout before Nov. 1, it is announced by Dr. A. C. Marts, executive director of the State Council of Defense, who said that the test probably would be of shorter duration than the previous half-hour blackouts.
