In Paris, specialized in doctoring unsuccessful pictures and earned the title of "Surgeon of the French Cinema." In collaboration with playwright, Yves Miranda, directed first pictures made by Andre Daven entitled, "Baccarat." His second picture "Le Mioche," with Lucien Barous and 100 little g'rls, attained international distribution. Directed "Prison Without Bars," which was awarded first prize at the Biennial Expostion in Venice. Many of the players who made their screen debut in "Le Mioche" and "Prison Without Bars" have since become famous. Michele Morgan, Corinne Luchaire, Gilbert Gill, Janine Darcey and many others. Directed "Conflict," and "Je T'Attendrai," starring Jean Pierre Aumont. In a report prepared for presentation at the annual stockholders' meeting in Jersey City yesterday, the company said the increase was due entirely to the large inci'ease in the company's sales to the Government and prime contractors of both photographic products and special apparatus and equipment for military purposes. It was reported that sales of products of the Tennessee Eastman Corporation, a subsidiary of Kodak, continue to form an important part of the company's sales volume.
Four directors also were re-elected for three-year terms at the meeting. They are: Frank W. Lovejoy, chairman of the board; William G. Stuber, honorary chairman; P. S. Wilcox, president of Tennessee Eastman, and Raymond N. Ball.
1943-44 Warner Program Calls for 10 Musicals
Hollywood — With three completed, one in production and six others in preparation for filming, Warners will have 10 musicals for the new season. Finished pictures are "Thank Your Lucky Stars," "The Desert Song," and "The Constant Nymph," while Irving Berlin's "This Is the Army" is before the cameras.
Musicals in preparation include "The Gay Nineties," "Life of Marilyn Miller," "Melancholy Baby," "Mississippi Belle," "Rhapsody in Blue," and "Shine On, Harvest Moon."

Detroit — "Extras" are playing an important part in the local exhibs. 2nd War Loan Campaign. Some 260 Michigan theaters are running trailers featuring this type of copy: "What the Yanks need right now is an EXTRA push, an EXTRA tank, that EXTRA ammunition. You invest your money in EXTRA Bonds." One of the smaller houses sold $30,000 worth of Bonds in one day with the aid of the trailer and other exhibitors are breaking all records.
Springfield, III.— Sale of $3,400 worth of War Bonds was reported as a result of an offer by members of the Springfield Theater Association, of free admissions for one day to anyone purchasing a Bond or converting a stamp book into a bond. It is planned to repeat the stunt later this month.
