One of the principal factors leading to the Government's 'green light" is the availability of more sugar, but, even with the shortage alleviation, it is considered doubtful if enough ha:d candy will be made to meet the consumer demand, in asmuch as the shortage of labor in factories still persists. A number of local manufacturers declare that demand for candy is now at an all-time high because of consumer purchases, and the large quantities which are going to our armed forces as well as to lendlease.
