Mexico (By Wire) — Despite the announced end of raw stock rationing in Mexico as of Jan. 1, the Committee on Motion Picture Affairs will continue to eye film distribution, it was revealed by a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior. Announcement came as a surprise to many industry members who assumed that the Committee would be
dissolved with the end of rationing. Spokesman explained that all local producers are free to request raw stock after Jan. 1, and said the purpose of retaining the Committee is to prevent possible reshipment of excess raw stock to Argentina and Spain. Charges of such shipments made in the past have been invariably denied by government and industry leaders.
