Monday, April 5, 1948 DAILY Censorship Curb Passes Geneva — Resolution on censorship adopted by the Committee on Gatheav i&~g and International Ti^-tsmission of News at the UN Conference on freedom of Information here provides the conditions \xnder which peace-time censorship should, if necessary, be carried out of all media, including newsreels. The resolution specifically stated that Governments resorting to such censorship M for a certain period of time" to meet "requirements of national defense" should: "(1) Establish in advance categories of information or photographs for use of newspaper, news agency, broadcasting station or newsreel agency, destined to go to another country, sub ject to previous inspection, and publish directives of the censor announcing forbidden matters.1' The resolution also calls for the carrying out of censorship in the presence of the correspondent so far as poss>* ble.
