Plan Studio for Detroit (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Detroit — Property on Vernier )ad near Jefferson Ave., has been quired by the Detroit M. P. Corp., i new organization with offices at 8 Stroh Bldg., and plans are under jy for the erection of a studio, ank L. Talbot is president; Edird C. Vernier, vice-president and :asurer, and Frank S. Cooke, sectary. The studio will cost apoximately $50,000 and it is stated ;at work will begin early in April. "It is our intention to produce both ature plays and comedies," Talbot ys. Talks of New Device Lee De Forest Says Invention Synchronizes Voice and Films Perfectly Lee De Forest, expert in wireless telegraphy and telephony, is back from Germany with an announcement that he had perfected a device for taking pictures so that the action of the photoplay and the voice are registered on the same strip of film, which could be used in an ordinary projection machine with an attachment, he said. The voice, he claims, is registered on the margin by action of the light on the sensitive cells. Through a special device, the voice is reproduced in perfect synchronism with the motion picture. De Forest, who is president of the De Forest Radio Telegraph and Telephone Co., said he will return to Germany in two weeks to continue his work on the talking picture machine, which he expects to "^ut on the market soon. Business does not justify the operating of two theaters at this time and the Pastime has been closed.
