DAILY Tuesday, May 9, 192; Hodkinson Deal Wi.h Southern M. P. Finance Corp. — Calls for Number of Productions The W. W. Hodkinson Corp. will distribute whatever pictures are fini;iKcd by the Southern M. P. Finance Corp., or made in the proposed plant of the Atlanta Studio Corp. These two companies, formed recently in Atlanta, are capitalized at $1,000,000 and $1,500,000 respectively. The second company is a subsidiary ot the first and its purpose will be to equip a studio in which producers allied with the finance company may work. The finance company will not limit its activities to those who may work in their studio, but will lend outside financial aid to producers of 1 epute. F. G. Munro, general manager of Hodkinson, stated yesterday there was no definite number of pictures which the Southern companies may make for Hodkinson. A minimum number is provided for but the maximum number is flexible. Plans 52? (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Atlanta — The Weekly Film Review states that the Southern M. P. Finance Corp., will make 52 features a \ear for Hodkinson. No Arbuckle Films in Seattle (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Seattle — An attempt was made to show an Arbuckle film at the Flag. It was ordered ofT by the censor board who issued orders to the effect that no Arbuckle films would be allowed on Seattle screens. Radio for Texas House (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Stephenville, Tex. — Tom Donnell, manager of the Majestic, will install a radio receiving station at the Majestic. Goldman Off K. C. Board (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Kansas City — Henry Goldman has been removed from the local censor board by Mayor Cromwell and has been replaced by James J. Larkin. When Goldman was asked to resign to make way for Larkin, he refused and issued a statement in which he said that before Cromwell was elected mayor he promised the local exhibitors he would make no changes in the personnel of the board. Fear Sunday Law in Des Moines (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Des Moines — With the appointment of John Hammond as chief of police, the fear has been voiced by local theater men that theaters may be closed on Sunday. Hammond is an advocate of Sunday closing. Seek Censors in Everett (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Everett, Wash. — Women's clubs are agitating for the formation of a censor board. Opposition is expected to follow from Pells and Swanson who control all theatrical enterprises here. Fegan Out of Ind. Films (Special to THE FILM DAILY) St. Louis — Barney Fegan, who on Tuesday, retired as manager and president of the Independent Film Corp. of Missouri, plans to concentrate on four or five pictures which he has secured. "Tess" To Be Release Title (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Los Angeles — The new Mary Pickford version of "Tess of the Storm Country" will probably be released as "Tess." Minnesota House Renovated (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Elysian, Minn. — Remoleding of the Elysian is practically completed. Callahan Transferred (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Seattle — Select has changed managers again. Diaz Callahan has been transferred to Dallas, and P. R. Aust, put in his place. Flues With Pathe (Special to THE FILM DAILY) Des Moines — A. W. Plues, form manager of the New Orleans Vit praph exchange, is the manager > the Pathe exchange.
