New Block of Common Would Provide for Other Expansion — Dividend Reports Persist Wall Street is discussing new finnancing involving Famous Players. The Street believes that Famous is about to float a new issue of common stock to the extent of $20,000,000 for the purpose of buying control in the Balaban and Katz Corp. and for other expansion movements. A source reported by Wall Street as close to Famous is the authority for the statement that the directors first considered a bond issue in connection with the financing contingent upon the B. and K. deal, but that the success with which the last issue of common was sold influenced the decision for increase in the common stock. Reports persist that the company will declare a common stock dividend which would place stock earnings on an equivalent of $10 a share annually instead of the present rate of $8. The next dividend meetinp will be held June 14 when the usual quarterly action on the preferred is looked for. However, there is a possibility that a special meeting may be held before then to act on either a common stock or an extra cash dividend. Famous Players officials continue to assert that all talk of a stock dividend or a new issue is unfounded in fact.
