They are Mary Picktord's all-talkinR fihn "Coquette ;"_ Gloria Swanson in "Queen Kelly," direction of Erich Von Stroheim; Vilma Bankv's all-talking film "Childs, Fifth Avenue," directed by Al Santell; Roland West's all-talking film "Nightstick;" and Constance Talniadge in "Venus." Ready for production are "City Lights;" starring Charles Chaplin, to be made with dialogue; Ronald Colman in an all-talking film, "Bulldog Drummond," directed by F. Richard Jones; Dolores del Rio in "Evangeline," directed by Edwin Carewe; Herbert Brenon's all-talking version of "Lummox." Other features soon to be produced are Harry Richman in "Say It With Music," talking and singing film; "The Shot," based on a Pushkin story and an original that William J. Locks, English novelist, is writing for Norma Talmadge. — Merry Xmas — • Williams in Fox Cast Guinn Williams has been cast to play the feature role in "Blue Skies," to be directed by Frank Borzage for Fox. Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell are to have the leading parts. — Merry Xmas — • Silent Version Ready A silent version of "Square Shoulders," featuring Junior Coghlan and Louis Wolheim has been completed. The picture is a Paul Bern production directed by E. Mason Hopper for Pathe and is scheduled to be completed with sound shortly after the first of the year. — Merry Xmas — Cast Opposite Mary Dvimcan Edmund Lowe will play opposite Mary Duncan in the forthcoming production "Through Different Eyes" an all talkie to be made at the Fox studios. — Merry Xmas — Quitting Fox? It is understood Madge Bellamy, now under contract with Fox, is about to sever connections with that company. — Merry Xmas — New Contract for Rowland Lee Paramount has signed a new contract with Rowland V. Lee following the completion of his all-dialogue feature, "The Wolf of Wall Street," starring George Bancroft. — Merry Xmas — Assign Counselman Pathe has assigned William Counselman to supervise production of its second all-dialogue feature, "Listen, Baby," featuring Eddie Quillan. -^Mcrry Xmas — ■ Columbia Signs Two R. William Neill and John P. McCarthy have been added to Columbia's directional staf?. A Little from a Lots ff By RALPH WILK PIERRE GENDRON, who wrote '"Cold Feet" and "Kept," which were played in the East, has joined Pathe and is writing dialogue. Pierre, who is a University of Chicago graduate, was a screen actor in the East and on the Coast, before going to England, where he wrote plays. « * « A. Leslie Pearce, who staged "Interference," "The Royal Family" and "The Captive," is much in demand at the studios. He directed the talking sequences of "The Carnation Kid," starring Douglas MacLean, and is now directing Lois Wilson in "The Bird in the Hand," written by Percy Heath. Benjamin Glazer, supervisor of the sound division at the Pathe Studios in Culver City, and Edmund Goulding, the latest important addition to his staff were previously associated together in the preparation of the story and adaptation of Colleen Moore's "Happiness Ahead." * * * Leslie Fenton, who appears as a reporter opposite Phylls Haver in Pathe's "The Office Scandal," a Fourth Estate Drama, was a cub journalist in New York before he embarked upon a histrionic career. * ♦ * Ray Hallor, who was a prominent child actor with the old Edison Stock Coiripany in 1919, is playing a featured role in Pathe's "Noisy Neighbors." Cunningham first attained recognition in New York as trainer of the "No, No. Nanette" chorus. — Merry Xmas — Long Term Contract for Taylor Raymond H. Taylor, serial director, has signed a long term contract with Universal. All the talent in the Benny Rubini family is not confined to Benny, who is knocking them out of their seats; at the Colony where he is master-of ceremoning. His wife, Mary O'Brien, is also a screen player and has been seen in such productions as "It Must Be Love," with Colleen Moore, and "Battling Butler," Buster Keaton picture. * * * Stage directorial technique is being injected into "Stepping High," being fihned at Sound Studios by FBO, by Bert Harrison, Gotham stage director.
