Monday, September 9, 1929 THE / ■— !».■.. i • PACIFIC O0V t N D E i COMMENT LITRES by Harold X H IB IT < By. H. McG. f™"! fimi»"" I I UgU8< 15, FILM DAILY COMPILES TENTH ANNUAL EDITION OF DIRECTORS' ANNUAL AND PRODUCTION GUIDE Reprinted from Pacific Coast Independent Exhibitor Issue of August 15th, 1929 v FUTURISTIC, modernistic, jazzy, dignified, colorful, marvelously attractive . . . well, just how could you describe the cover on this compendium of all information regarding motion picture directors, compiled by Film Daily? The covers may entice . . . but it is the valuable material contained within these covers that again proves that Film Daily certainly "knows how and when." This is the tenth edition of the Film Daily Directors' Annual and Production Guide. In a foreword the publishers explain that this annual has always been accepted as an open forum for creators of motion pictures. This edition, still by and for the director, has been broadened by the addition of a "production guide to the end that there might be permanently recorded a true cross-sectional word picture of all those variegated elements which figure in the conception of screen entertainment." This, we would say, has been splendidly achieved. Everything Film Daily does, they do almost better than anyone else. This annual is no exception. From the keenly clever cartoons . . . advertisements so well written that you can't resist reading them . . . clever editorials . . . there isn't a page that doesn't intrigue.
