This is equivalent to $2.28 a share on 300,000 shares of no par participating preferred shares outstanding and a $2.28 a share on 400,000 no par common shares. This compares with $977,198 for the same period of 1928. For the month of August net income amounted to $224,327 which is the largest single month's earning's in the company's history. Oklahoma Committee to Rate Houses Named Oklahoma City — Rating committee named to classify theaters of the state for RKO and Tiffany-Stahl franchises, consists of Tom Boland, Oklahoma City; F. B. Pickrel, Ponca City; A. H. Momand, Shawnee and Eph Johnson, Tulsa. Alternates are W. Z. Spearman, Edmond; John Brown, Tulsa; Bob Hutchinson, Oklahoma City. $5.33 a Share Earned by Shubert Net profit of $1,076,376, after depreciation, interest and Federal taxes, for the year ended June 30, was declared by the Shubert Theater Corp. and subsidiaries. This is equivalent to $5.33 a share on the 201,975 average number of shares outstanding during the period, or $5.03 a share on the 213,160 shares outstanding on June 30. "U" Club to Hold Ball The Universal Club, a society of Universal home office employes, will hold its annual inaugural ball Oct. 26 in the Grand Ball Room of the Hotel Astor, New York. M. J. Etchingham is president of the Universal Club. S. S. Keller is chairman of the entertainment committee. Bright Leaf Theaters Operating Carolina Chain Charlotte — The circuit of theaters in North Carolina formerly owned and operated by H. J. Paradis, of Wilson, will now be operated by the Bright Leaf Theaters. The circuit consists of the Sanders, Smithfield, Oasis, Wilson, Colonial, Tarboro, Whites Greenville, and the Temple Theater at Sanford. Kincaid Named Business Manager of Mountain Unit Denver — Hobart Kincaid, former Florence, Colo., exhibitor, has been named business manager of the M. P.T.O. of the Rocky Mountain Region. The organization is affiliated with Allied States Ass'n. Port Jervis Retaining 'Blues' Despite Sentiment Port Jervis, N. Y. — Despite a preponderance of sentiment in favor of Sunday shows, as shown in an unofficial straw vote, city officials here have determined that the Sunday show ban will be retained. Voting was 2,562 for Sunday shows and 87 against. "Applause" Opening Oct. 1 Premiere of "Applause" has been set at the Embassy, New York, Oct. 1. Garrison Gets Albany Branch Albany — Joe Garrison, formerly a member of the sales force at Minneapolis, is new manager of the Universal exchange here.
