100 MORE OHIO SHOWMEN ENDORSE FRANCHISE PLAN
Columbus — One hundred theater owners of central Ohio unanimously endorsed franchise plans of RKO and Tiffany-Stahl at the second of two regional Ohio meetings held here. The third meeting is being held today at Cincinnati.
The franchise plan, speakers told the meeting, will solve the problem of the independent exhibitor. The more franchises that are sold, the more opportunity there will be to bring about lower film rentals from other distributors, it was stated. Speakers included H. M. Richey, business manager of the Michigan unit; Carl J. Goe, assistant sales manager of Tiffany-Stahl; Col. E. P Hawkins of RCA-Photophone; Al Mertz of RKO, and William James, president of the Ohio exhibitor unit. At the recent Cleveland regional meeting about 100 exhibitors unanimously endorsed the franchise proposals.

ERENCH PRODUCERS AGAIN DEMAND 4J0 I QUOTA
Paris — French producers intend to stand pat on their demand for a four to one quota on imports, and leaders of the industry again have asked the government to take steps to enforce the projected quota, and gradually strengthen it to a two to one basis. American distributors' reaction to the four to one agreement is that they cannot operate with a profit on this basis and as a result they have ceased to sell the French market, causing considerable shortage in films here. Suggested proposal of the French Film Syndicate to drop the quota system in favor of raising the import duties is opposed by the Chambre Syndicate.
Affiliation Big Question at Wis. Unit Meeting
Milwaukee — Question of affiliation is expected to highlight the convention of the Wisconsin exhibitor unit, which today winds up its sessions at Cedar Lake, near here. The franchise proposals of RKO and TiffanyStahl and the new equipment to be offered by RCA-Photophone, also are to be outlined at the meetings. Last winter the affiliation question highlighted a meeting here, which was addressed by leaders of Allied Ass'n and by R. F. Woodhull then president of the M.P.T.OA. No decision was reached on affiliation at the time.

His son, Bernard, who was seriously ill in London and who underwent an operation while there, is practically recovered and is now in the convalescent stage.
