Universal Steps Out Carl Laemmle & Co. have evidently struck a universal and highly satisfactory response to their complete service plan to the small exhibitors of the country. Here is at least one convincing answer to the small exhibitors plea for satisfactory service at a uniform cost. A complete program is supplied with sound either on film or disc on a flat weekly rental basis for any period of time from one to five years. RCA-Photophone Device Used on Goetz Talker RCA-Photophone recording was used on "The Woman Who Was Forgotten," all-talker produced on the Coast by Charles S. Goetz of States Cinema, New York, Richard Thomas directed the picture cast of which includes Belle Bennett, LeRoy Mason, Gladys McConnell, Jack Mower, Jack Trent and William Walling. "Night Parade" Premiere Set RKO's "Night Parade" will have its premiere at the Globe, New York. Sept. 30, following "Street Girl." To Open Chisholm House Chisholm, Minn. — With remodeling completed, the Philo will be reopened here soon, according to G. F. Berquist, manager. NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE Cleveland Stage Hands Get Wage Increase Cleveland — Granting stage hands in legitimate theaters an approximate wage increase of $5 a week has averted a general strike, according to Manus McCaffery of the local stagehands union. Robert McLaughlin, manager of the Ohio theater which plays Klaw and Erlanger attractions, confirmed the wage announcement, and commenced his regular season Monday, Sept. 9th. Ansley Whittendale, manager of the Hanna, which plays Shubert shows, said that because of trouble with the musicians' union, his theater will be closed until further notice. Negotiations are still pending between the musicians and stage hands with local motion picture theater owners. Matty Radin is vice president and general manager of the firm. The initial product to be made is a series of 12 two reel schooldays comedies, three of which have been completed.
