Consolidated Lab. Loss "Minor" in Ft. Lee Fire "Our loss, if any, can be safely estimated at a few hundred dollars,'' was the comment offered by an official of the Consolidated Film Laboratories at their New York office regarding the fire at Fort Lee, N. J Fire damaged the studio situated in the rear of Consolidated property which was known as the Hirliagrapb Laboratory and was closed and abandoned by Consolidated as an op erating lab in May, 1928, while the studio was abandoned years ago. New Television Machine Produces Larger Image Television apparatus that permits a larger picture to be transmitted with considerable elimination of flickering is being demonstrated at the Radio World's Fair at Madison Square Garden. The improved equipment increases the size of the image from 12 to 14 inches square and transmits 20 pictures per second. To Roadshow "Rio Rita" Following Premiere Immediately following the premiere of "Rio Rita" at the Earl Carroll, New York, on Oct. 6, the picture is to be handled as a roadshow attraction, according to Joseph I. Schnitzer, president of RKO. Bebe Daniels and John Boles head the cast. Forty per cent of the production was made in Technicolor. Hetty King for R-K-0 Houses Hetty King, English comedienne, has arrived in New York to open an engagement for R-K-O. Her first appearance is scheduled at Buffalo Oct. 15. Palestine Benefit in RKO Houses Benefit performances for the Palestine emergency fund will be given Saturday of this week at 11:45 at the franklin, Prospect and 161st St., by ihe combined RKO theaters of the Bronx. E. Williamson, who operates the Williamson Theater at Winter Haven. He says that certain restrictions relative to the handling of the citrus crops have been rescinded and that by the time the marketing season gets into full stride considerable money is expected to get into circulation and the theaters will benefit accordingly. Fox Looking for Girl to Play Opposite McCormack Fox is in search of an Irish colleen to play the lead in the picture which Frank Borzage is producing in Ireland with John McCormack starred. Those already selected for the cast include John Garrick, Alice Joyce, Joe Kerrigan and Farrell Macdonald. Carl Laemmle Invited as City of Bremen Guest Carl Laemmle, president of Universal, now spending his vacation in Europe, has been invited by the City of Bremen, Germany, to be its guest to commemorate his first trip to America 45 years ago. Laemmle was born at Laupheim, Wuertten berg, and a street in that town has been renamed in his honor. Laemmle and his party expect to arrive back in United States on Oct. 1. The Industry's Date Book Back on Full Week Policy Cleveland — Keith's East 105th St. theater has gone back to a full week policy. The house has been playing split weeks for the past year. "Street Girl" Remains at Globe "Street Girl" at the Globe, New York, will not be replaced by "Night Parade" on Sept. 30 as previously mentioned. "Condemned" Premiere Nov. 4 "Condemned" will have its premiere at the Selwyn, New York, Nov. 4. Couture Dies of Heart Attack Manchester, N. H. — Eugene Couture, 58, local theater owner, died here after a heart attack. The Judge tells the wife that her husband is coming home after fifteen years' absence in prison. A dramatic moment from "The Phantom in the House," starring Ricardo Cortez, Henry B. Walthall and Nancy Welford. It's an all talkie from Continental Pictures. — Advt.
