Mix Recovering After Ooeration West Coast Bureau, THE FILM DAILY San Diego — Tom Mix is in a local hospital recovering after an operation for a shoulder injury received in a fall from a horse in Dallas three months aeo. He is expected to leave the hospital in a day or so. Schine Acquires Ohio House Chilicothe, O.—The Schine Enterprises has acquired the Sherman, which is being altered at a cost of "^"vOOO. Western Electric sound equipment is being installed. DENY REPORT OF BANNING U. S. TALKERS IN GERMANY Berlin (By Cable)— With the exception of Warner Bros., it is understood, American distributors are not selling talking pictures here pending the outcome of the suits over sound patents. Silent product, however, is being sold. The Hays office in New York denies cable reports to the effect that it has ordered the members of its group to cease selling sound product in Germany until settlement of the talker patent dispute. Heads of foreign, departments of American film companies, asked for a statement, declared they had nothing to say. Pettijohn Mum Report that a conference will be held in New York today on the proposed exhibitor organizations merger, brought to the attention of C. C. Pettijohn of the Hays office, resulted in the reply, "nothing to say." Petti•ohn further said that.he's "not talking about the matter."
