Clem Pope, Former RKO Theater Exec, Is Dead Monogram to Produce 10 Films in Mexico Cleveland — Clem Pope, 52, born in Muskogee, Okla., who came to Cleveland in 1938 as publicity man for RKO Theaters and was RKO Theater district manager from 1940 to 1945, died Saturday at Mt. Sinai Hospital where he had been ill one week. For the past year he was associated with Mitchell, McCanless and Claus, advertising firm. Surviving are his wife, Margaret, and two sons, Clem, Jr., and Richard, a brother and two sisters. (Continued from Page 1) City Variety Club, who is visiting the film colony to interest stars in making appearances at four charity balls planned in the Mexican capital this year. Balls' proceeds will go to the Variety Club's campaign to raise more than a million pesos for the establishment of a home for poor children. The Mexican Government will donate the land for the institution. Montes said 10 theaters are under construction in Mexico City and five more will arise during the year. It will be fitting and proper for the projected forum to attempt to formulate a system of industry arbitration that will meet all objections to the present system." Levy indicated that an invitation to participate in the Forum will be sent to Allied States. Allied, at its recent board meeting, was non-committal on the Forum suggestion. If and when the MPTOA invitation is received, the question will be referred to the executive committee which in turn will poll members of the board before taking action. I Nelson Greene Passes Chicago — Funeral services were held here for Nelson L. Greene, a founder of Educational Screen Magazine, who died last week. Greene was 65. A graduate of Colgate, Greene received a' doctorate from Princeton. He served in the French Army during World War I and was a member of the Society for Visual Education.
