J. Murapane, it is claimed, will produce the same austere effects of marble, yet it is one-quarter inch thick compared to the 1-inch thickness of marble slabs. It is available on specification, to almost any size. Murapane is finished with the high lustre of polished marble and is durable and impervious to weather. Expect State to Permit Oils for Popping Corn Albany — Amendment to the proposed revised state building code, suggested by exhibitors and relating to the operation of popcorn machines in theaters, is expected to be adopted by the State Board of Standards and Appeals. New Code would ban the use of any combustible or volatile fluid in theaters, but exhibs. have suggested a wording to permit the use of high flash point fluids needed to pop corn. Leonard Rosenthal, attorney for Smalley Theaters, has appealed to the Board for clarification in the language of the proposed code to eliminate confusion as to how strict the two-year limitation on a certificate of compliance would operate. He also seeks revisions in the definition of the word "stage." First Fix for Penasco Penasco, N. M. — Amando Roybal is opening this town to films via a remodeled building. Beasley New Prexy of Bardwell and McAlister West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY ■ Hollywood — An accelerated program of production and merchandising has been announced by G. Hamilton Beasley, new president of Bardwell & McAlister, Inc., Burbank, California, manufacturers of photographic equipment, Rosan Locking Systems and electronic apparatus. Beasley succeeds Cecil Bardwell who resigned due to ill health. Remy L. Hudson, formerly vicepresident of Utah Radio Products Company, Chicago, has been elected executive vice-president. Tad Travers is vice-president and other directors are William B. Malouf, John B. Dunbar, J. G. McAlister, J. C. Rose and K. D. Clardy. New Sandersville Theater Sandersville, Ga.— T. J. Bret of Riddleville is building this town's second theater. S-W's Paint Prices Advance 6% Today Sherwin-Williams Co. has announced an increase of approximately 6 per cent in its wholesale paint prices, efi'ective today. In a letter to dealers, SherwinWilliams said the increase was needed because of advances in prices of lead, zinc and other pigments used in paint manufacture and because of rising labor and operating costs. The over-all average prices, with the new increase, will be 44.5 per cent above 1941.
