Rogers Hospital Drive Permits 10 New Patients An advance contribution to the Will Rogers Memorial Hospital by the committees handling the current funds drive has made possible the admittance of 10 new patients in need of treatment for tuberculosis, the Metropolitan committee reports. Groups reported the New York drive is exceeding expectations, but warned that over-confidence at this time could wreck the objective. Columbia Sees Profit But Passes Dividend While tentative figures for Columbia's fiscal year ended June 30 indicate a net profit after taxes and dividend requirements, Columbia's board on Friday decided to take no action at this time on the payment of a cash dividend on its common stock. Action was said due to unsettled conditions in the industry, particularly with respect to foreign operations. AL 0. Eddy Retained as Video Director for Meredith Des Moines, la.— Capt. Will Eddy, president of Television Associates, Chicago, has been retained as director of television activities for Meredith Publishing Co., E. T. Meredith, vice-president and general manager, announced. Publishing firm which puts out Better Homes & Gardens and Successful Farming, has one video station under construction in Syracuse, N. Y., and applications pending for channels in Rochester, N. Y., and Albany. Captain Eddy recently resigned from Paramount's Chicago video station, WBKB, to become president of Television Associates, manufacturer of television equipment and other electronic devices. Variety Clubs to Sponsor International P. A. Tour West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — An international p. a. tour, in connection with showings of Allied Artists' "Bad Boy" will be made by Lloyd Nolan and Audie Murphy, co-stars. Variety Clubs International, sponsor of the film, announced. Tour will cover 33 U. S. cities, to be followed by appearances in Paris, London, Rome, Shanghai, Johannesburg and other cities. Contend RKO Operating Two As First-Run Houses Chicago — Attorney Thomas McConnell will file a brief in Circuit Court of Appeals today contending that the RKO Palace and Grand Theaters are operated by RKO as first-run theaters despite the company contention that the companies enjoined in the Jackson Park decree were not the companies which operate these theaters.
