Four U. S. Majors Selling 16 mm. in Argentina

Washington — Buenos Aires offices of four major U. S. distributors (Universal, RKO, M-G-M and Warners) are among the 10 firms distributing 16 mm. features in Argentina, Department of Commerce Pix Chief Nathan D. Golden reports. United States and Mexican films are being shown widely in 16 mm. versions — with average rental for one feature and shorts 100 pesos per showing. French and Italian films are soon to be made available on the narrow film, but printing of domestic Argentine production is confined almost entirely to 35 mm. thus far.
Charges Commies Seek to Dominate N. Y. AFM Local
Communist party is out to run or ruin the New York AFM union, Local 802 officials charged in a statement. Situation is said to have been brewing for some time, but was climaxed Monday when the Communist fraction leadership is said to have filibustered to preclude a vote on a resolution under which all candidates for union office would file non-Communist statements.
