Down here it is generally believed that this is the 'purpose of his visit to New York." Indianapolis, Ind. — Robert Leiber sold Smith's Theater to Geo. P Bair, owner of Bair's Theater. In the Courts Robertson-Cole Co. has filed an answer in the Supreme Court in a suit of James H. Maddy for damages for alleged breach of contract. The answer alleges that the plaintiff was engaged Dec. 1, 1918, at $100 a week for an indefinite time, and that when his services were terminated Sept. 20 last he received $200 in full payment. The answer further stated that Maddy agreed to be loyal, obedient and faithful, but that in August and September last he made false and malicious statements concerning the business and financial standing of the defendant, for which reason he was discharged. Buy "House Without Children" "The House Without Children" has been bought by Salle Films for Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee from the Film Market. To Make "Women Men Love" The Bradley Features Co. has purchased "The Women Men Love" for production under the direction of Samuel R. Bradley. It is from the pen of Charles T. Dazey and Frankj M. Dazey. Ray Smallwood is directing Na* zimova in her new Metro production, "Madame Peacock." Chicago. — Albert Hoffman formerly manager of several theaters ha? joined the sales force of Superior Screen Service. Leonard C. Shunway will play the principal male role in "Kate Plus Ten," in which Universal is to star Eva Novak. Stuart Paton direct. will Off for Coast Benjamin A. Prager, president of Mayower Films, left yesterday for the Coast to look over western producing activities of the company. When Stuart Paton begins work as the director of Universal's new star, Eva Novak, it will be on a picturization of Edgar Wallace's novel, "Kate Plus Ten." Paton lately completed "The Hope Diamond Mystery" for Kosmik. Hamilton Revelle has been engaged to play a prominent part in "Kismet," Robertson-Cole, starring Otis Skinner. Mm. Elmer who played opposite Omer Locklear in the "Skywayman," a Fox production, has been cast as the leading heavy in a Buck Jones feature on the same lot. Winnipeg Reception to Connor Co. Winnipeg — Mayor Gray, Premier Norris and President Carter of the Chamber of Commerce welcomed to the city yesterday afternoon the first motion picture company to work in Winnipeg. The company was headed by Wilton Lackaye, Nan Sutherland, Gaston Glass, Gladys Coburn, Robert T. Haines, William Colvin and 22 others. They start on location tomorrow to film Ralph Connor's "The Foreigner." The company was entertained at dinner by the city council at old Fort Garry. The city was gaily decorated. Lustig, one of the regional directors of the Motion Picture Theater Owners of America was elected president of North Ohio Exhibitors Association at its annual election. Pittsburg, Pa. — Jake Silverman, L. W. Barclay, Charles Baird, and Nick Notopoulis were elected president, ■vice president, secretary and treasurer respectively of the Keystone Exhibitors Asso. "Step" Leaves Publishing Joseph Klein of the D. N. Schwab Prod, announces the appointment of Dimitri Stephon ("Step") as supervisor of sales and publicity for that organization. The latter has left the field of journalism for the new enterprise, this being his first affiliation in the motion picture industry. He will leave for an extended trip west very soon. Florence Turner, who has just completed a part in "Blackmail," starring Viola Dana, has signed to appear with Doraldina in "Passion Fruit." Scenarios in Book Form Jesse L. Lasky of Famous says that the scenarios to be prepared by James M. Barrie and other famous authors for Famous Players will be published in book form. Signet Gets "Woman Untamed" Elmer J. McGovern has sold Doraldina in "The Woman Untamed" for Greater New York and Northern New Jersey to David Solomon of the Signet Films, Inc. J. W. Litwin has arrived from New York and announces he will star Harry Mann in a series of two reel comedies, based on the old Mother Goose character, Simple Simon. Marshall Neilan and a company including Wesley Barry are working on "Dinty" as San Francisco. Bessie Barriscale is also working on "The Broken Gate," with Paul Scardon directing, at Frisco. Mooser Studio Manager In addition to his looking after the Goldwyn productions in the East, George Mooser will today have charge of the studio on E. 48th St., while Robert Mclntyre, formerly in charge of the studio, leaves today for the Coast, where he will take a hand in production.
