Famous Players and Goldwyn Cannot Agree Over Services of E. Phillips Oppenheim Famous Players and Goldwyn cannot agree over the services of E. Phillips Qppenheim, the well known British author. A few weeks ago Goldwyn announced that Oppenheim's works had been secured by that company' and last week Famous Players said that that company had signed the author. Further inquiries as to the terms of the contract reveal -that Goldwyn claims to have Oppenheim for five years and the contract gives the company first call on anything that the author may write. Famous Players claim to have Oppenheim signed for a period of three years with one clause of the contract reading that Oppenheim will not write screen plays for anyone else if those which he writes for Famous Players are accepted by the company. There is some speculation as to whether the Goldwyn contract covered Oppenheim's written works only but the Goldwyn offices emphatically state that the contract covers all writings. Knoblock En Route Edward Knoblock, who has been engaged by Famous Players to write a number of original stories for the screen left England for the United States on Thursday.
