A. — the Motion Picture Directors' Association, was held at the Biltmore last night with about 150 guests present. Practically every member of the association who was in town yesterday attended the dinner at which Augustus Thomas was toastmaster. James Vincent, president of the M. P. D. A., made the opening address. Charles Giblyn representing the coast branch of the lodge spoke on behalf of his co-directors while other speakers were Sidney S. Cohen, Augustus Thomas and State Senator James L. Walker. It was the first [ dinner at which ladies were present. Glimpsed around the dinner table were John D. "Carneval," by Anton Dvorak, and this is followed by the Rivoli Pictorial, which includes a Mutt and Jeff cartoon. The third number is a vocal selection, "At the Roadside," rendered by Carl Rollins and male chorus. William S. Hart is the feature attraction in "The Testing Block." A dance specialty by Grace Eastman and Martha Shelby, entitled "Pizzicatto," follows. The sixth number is a Mack Sennett comedy, "Fickle Fancy," and the concluding number is the organ solo, "Festival March," played by Firmin Swinnen. Capitol The Capitol orchestra renders the Russian composition, "Marche Slav," by Tschaikowsky. This is followed by a Prizma colored scenic, "Niagara, Mighty Thunderer." Erick Bye, the Norwegian baritone, makes his first appearance in America, singing "The Song of the Viking," by Grig. The selection is rendered in the original Norwegian, and Mr. Bye is ass'sted by the Capitol Ensemble. The Capitol News follows and the next nrmber is entitled "In a Russian Gypsy Camp," being a presentation of Russian folk dances by Doris Niles, Mile. Sergreeva and Leon Leonidow, ass'sted by the orchestra, ballet corps and Russian Cathedral Choir. The feature is Mme. Nazimova in "Billions."
