Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights" lias been booked by Moss Empires, Ltd., for a guaranteed London run of 20 weeks and about $200,000 against 60 per cent of the gross receipts, according to United Artists. Chaplin closed the deal personally by trans-atlantic telephone. This is the first time such terms have ever been made for a picture. Billboards Harrisburg, Pa. — Taxation of theatrical and other advertising billboards in Pennsylvania at the rate of three cents a foot is proposed in a measure presented by Assemblyman Talbot of Delaware County. Ohio Newspapers Favor Dropping Reel Censorship Columbus — Secretary of State Clarence J. Brown, in his capacity as publisher of six Ohio newspapers, is using the newsreel for the broadcasting of a speech in which he advocates exemption of newsreels from censorship in accordance with a bill introduced in the state legislature. The Buckeye Press Ass'n and the Ohio Newspaper Ass'n, representing nearly all newspapers in Ohio, also favor the exemption. Al Selig to Vacation in Florida A. L. Selig, director of advertising and publicity for Tiffany, leaves Monday for Florida for a two weeks' vacation, his first in the seven years of service with the company. With the Tiffany studio inactive at present, Grant L. Cook suggested that this would be an appropriate time for Selig to take his well-earned rest.
