The latter include Norma Shearer in "A_Eree Soul," directed by Clarence Brown; Marion Davies in "Five and Ten," directed by Jack Conway; Joan Crawford in "Girls Together," directed by Nick Grinde, and William Haines in "Dancing Partners," directed by Jack Conway. Pictures preparing are "Susan Lenox" for Greta Garbo, directed by King Vidor; "Sea Eagles" for Wallace Beery and Marjorie Rambeau, directed by George Hill; "Man in Possession" for Robert Montgomery, directed by Sam Wood; "Flying High," directed by Charles Riesner; "Lullaby" for Helen Hayes, directed by Edgar Selwyn; "Sidewalks of New York" for Buster Keaton; "The Great Lover" for Adolphe Menjou, directed Dy Arthur Robinson; a new Ramon Novarro vehicle, directed by Jacques Feyder; "Horse Flesh," directed by Charles Brabin, and a new Dressler-Moran picture, directed by Charles Riesner. A LITTLE from "LOTS" By RALPH WILK First Bud Barsky Feature "Where Is My Wandering BoyTonight," first of the six features to be made by Bud Barsky for independent release, will go into production about May 10. Buck Jones Completes Eight With the completion of "The Fighting Sheriff," Buck Jones has wound up his present series of eight westerns for Columbia. Loretta Sayers, society debutante discovered by Columbia, plays the feminine role opposite Jones in this picture, which Louis King directed. Sheekman Adding Dialogue Arthur Sheekman, New York revue writer, is supplying the additional dialogue for "Monkey Business," which will star the Marx brothers. Sheekman was formerly a columnist on the Chicago "Journal" and dramatic critic of the St. Paul "Daily News." WALTER BYRON will replace Leslie Fenton in "Spent Bullets," the next Richard Bartnelmess starring vehicle. * * * Tod Browning, while vacationing in Europe, plans to gather material for several forthcoming stories. The director, who recently signed a new long-term contract with M-G-M, sailed last week from Neiv York. * * * Virginia Sale is moving her makeup kit over to the Fox Film studios to enact another of her comedy parts, this time in "Over the Hill" under Henry King's direction. * * * "Confessions of a Co-Ed," with Phillips Holmes, Sylvia Sidney and Norman Foster, has gone in work at Paramount under the direction of David Burton. Cast also includes Martha Sleeper, Claudia Dell, Florence Britton, Dorothy Libaire, Bruce Colman and Marguerite Warner. * * * Stanley Fields has been signed for a part in "Wyoming Wonder" by Ina Claire to Make RKO Picture Ina Claire will appear in at least one picture for RKO next season, it is announced by William LeBaron. "U" Signs Elliott Nugent Elliott Nugent has been signed on a long term contract by Carl Laemmle, Jr. He will have featured roles, and his first film under the new agreement will be "The Whole Town's Talking," the play by John Emerson and Anita Loos. Fox. George O'Brien, Virginia Cherrill, Humphrey Bogart and James Kirkwood will be featured. * * * Robert Presnell and Walter De Leon have completed the script of "As Good as New," Dorothy Mackaill's next First National vehicle, an adaptation of Thompson Buchanan's play. * * * Arthur Robison, Continental director who has been making foreign versions at M-G-M, will direct "The Great Lover," with Adolphe Menjou Irene Dunne and Baclanova. * * * Lucien Littlefield appears with Will Rogers in "Young As You Feel" for Fox. * * 4 Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard have started work in "I Take This Woman" at Paramount. Clara Blandick and Mildred Van Dorn also are in the cast. Marion Gering and Slavko Vorkapich are directing. Sammy Fuller relates the story of two extras who were seated at a table in a studio mess hall. "What'll we order, kid?" asked the male extra of his fair companion. She looked around and whispered, "Wait till I see if there's anyone we know around here." FOUR F. N. PICTURES i OUT OF CUTTING ROON Four new First National pictures have passed through the editing and cutting rooms of the Burbank studio and prints are now being sent to the exchanges. Heading the list is "Chances," the Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., picture in which Rose Hobart plays the feminine lead. Following is "Broad Minded," starring Joe E. Brown, with Ona Munson and Marjorie White also in its cast; "Big Business Girl," with Loretta Young, Frank Albertson and Ricardo Cortez, and "Party Husband," starring Dorothy Mackaill. Double Exposure Out of seven pictures in which Jeanette MacDonald has appeared, six have shown her rising in the morning and three have included bathtub scenes. In her latest, "Two Can Play," she will do both. "East of Borneo" Starts Soon Director George Melford will start April 23 filming "East of Borneo," an original story by Dale Van Every and Don Ryan, with a cast headed by Rose Hobart and Charles Bickford. Another important role will be played by Lupita Tovar, Spanish actress, who has been signed on a long term contract by Universal. Added to "The Sky Raiders" With the signing of J. Jerome Hansen and Dick Rush, Columbia's "The Sky Raiders" went into its last week of production. Warners Complete Four Warner Bros, have completed four more productions on this season's release schedule. Among the pictures are "Svengali," with John Barrymore and Marian Marsh; "Smart Money," in which Edward G. Robinson is the star; "Gold Dust Gertie," starring Winnie Lightner with Olsen and Johnson, and "The Maltese Falcon," the mystery story with Bebe Daniels in the role of the designing woman.
